Recipe: Performing AWS RDS Instance Restore to the original locationn
Expected deliverables:
An entire AWS RDS instance recovered at the time of backup state.
Time to complete: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- An AWS RDS Backup, either from cloud-native snapshot or snapshot replica
Before you start: Veeam Backup for AWS does not support restoring RDS resources to the original location if deletion protection is enabled for the source resource.
Assumptions:
You have an existing Veeam Backup for AWS deployment, and backups of one or more AWS RDS Instances.
Method:
- Login the Veeam Backup for AWS web interface.
- Navigate to Protected Data > Databases > RDS. Select the RDS instance that you want to restore, and click Restore > Instance Restore.
- At the Instances step, select a restore point that will be used to restore the selected RDS instance (by default the most recent restore point). Click Next.
- At the Account step, choose whether you want to use an IAM role of an AWS account, an AWS account of an AWS Organization, or one-time access keys of an IAM user with enough privileges to perform the restore operation
- At the Restore Mode step , choose that you want to restore the selected RDS instance to the original location.
- At the Reason step, specify a reason for restoring the Cloud SQL instance. Click Next.
- At the Summary step, review summary information and click Finish.
