Recipe: Performing Entire VPC Configuration Restore
Expected deliverables:
The entire AWS VPC Configuration recovered at the time of backup state.
Time to complete: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- An AWS VPC Configuration Backup
Before you start: Restore to a new location is not supported for Client VPN endpoints and Customer gateways and load balancer listeners that use authentication certificates.
Assumptions: You have an existing Veeam Backup for AWS deployment,
Method:
- Login the Veeam Backup for AWS web interface.
- Navigate to Protected Data > VPC. Select an AWS Region whose VPC configuration you want to restore, and click Restore > Entire VPC.
- At the Instances step, select a restore point that will be used to restore the selected VPC Configuration (by default the most recent restore point). Then, in the Choose VPCs to restore section, select VPCs whose configuration you want to restore.
- At the Account step, choose whether you want to use an IAM role of an AWS account, an AWS account of an AWS Organization, or one-time access keys of an IAM user with enough privileges to perform the restore operation
- At the Restore Mode step, Choose to restore the selected VPC Configuration to the original location
- As an option, you can select Restore to new location, or with different settings.
- In this case, you need to select the target AWS Region where to restore the VPC Configuration.
- Then, at the Availability Zones step choose the Availability Zone to which VPC configuration items will be restored.
- Finally, at the Peering Connection step , review preconfigured VPC peering connection settings. You cannot modify this settings. Click Next
- At the Reason step, specify a reason for restoring the VPC Configuration. Click Next.
- At the Summary step, review summary information. Click Finish.
