Recipe: Adding On-Premises Microsoft Organizations

Expected deliverables:

A Microsoft 365 organization added to the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 infrastructure.

Time to complete: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Access to Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 GUI using a browser
  • Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint organization account

Before you start:

Assumptions: You have an existing Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 installation.

Method:

  1. Open the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 interface.
  2. On the “Organizations” view, right click “Organizations” in the inventory pane and select “Add organization”.
  3. Select “On-Premises” as organization deployment type, and the services to protect between “Microsoft Exchange Server” and “Microsoft SharePoint Server”. Click “Next” to proceed.
  4. Specify the Microsoft Exchange server name, and authentication credentials. Select the “Grant this account required roles and permissions” check box and click “Next”.
  5. Specify the Microsoft SharePoint server name, port, and authentication credentials. Select the “Grant this account required roles and permissions” check box and click “Next”.
  6. Wait for the connection to be established, then click “Finish”.
