Recipe: Creating Google Cloud Spanner Snapshots Manually

Expected deliverables:

A manually created Google Cloud Spanner Snapshot, managed outside the backup policy.

Time to complete: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

• A Google Cloud Spanner Database

Before you start:

A manually created snapshot is kept in your Google Cloud environment unless you remove it manually.

Assumptions:

You have an existing Veeam Backup for Google Cloud deployment.

Method:

1. Login the Veeam Backup for Google Cloud web interface.
2. Navigate to Resources > Cloud Spanner
3. Select the necessary Cloud Spanner instance and click Take Snapshot Now.
4. In the Take Snapshot Now window, select a service account with permissions to create snapshots.
5. Finally click Take Snapshot to complete the process.
