Recipe: Adding Veeam Infrastructure Appliances to Veeam Infrastructure
Expected deliverables:
A Veeam Infrastructure Appliances added to Veeam Infrastructure and ready to be used as a Hardened Repository or another Veeam role.
Time to complete: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- Veeam Infrastructure Appliances (VIA) already deployed as a Virtual Machine or Physical Server using an ISO File.
Before you start:
- The Host Management console web UI is disabled by default. It can be enabled temporary with security officer approval.
- You cannot install third-party software on a Veeam Infrastructure Appliance.
- When you add a Veeam Infrastructure Appliance to Veeam Backup, a connection is automatically established. No user name or password is required; authentication is performed using certificates.
Assumptions: It’s assumed that you already have a Veeam Backup Server fully working in your environment. If you need to install Veeam Backup Server, please refer to Installing Veeam Backup & Replication All-In-One Base system Recipe.
Method:
- Open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console.
- Open the Backup Infrastructure view. In the inventory pane, select the Managed Servers node and click Add Server on the ribbon. In the Add Server window, select Veeam Infrastructure Appliance.
- At the Name step, specify an address (Full DNS Name or IP Address) and description for the Veeam Infrastructure Appliance.
- Click in Optional components and advanced connection setting and go to the Component tab to select the components to be installed depending on the role to be assigned to this VIA. Clear the check boxes of the components you do not need.
- Click in Next.
- Veeam displays the TLS key certificate fingerprint. Click in Yes to continue.
- At the Review step, review what Veeam components are already installed on the server and what components will be installed. Click Apply to add the Linux server to the backup infrastructure.
- At the Apply step, review details of the Linux server. Click Next, then click Finish to exit the wizard
