The Veeam Cookbook Series

A simple step by step no frills approach to achieving your goal

Recipe: Create an Active Full for a Backup Copy Job

Expected deliverables:

An ad-hoc active full backup added to the backup chain of a Backup Copy Job in the target repository.

Time to complete: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • An existing Backup Copy Job with at least one successfully created restore point.

Before you start:

An active full is useful when you change backup copy job settings (for example, encryption); Veeam applies the new settings starting from this full backup.

Assumptions:

You have a Veeam Backup and Replication server installed.

Method:

  1. Open the Veeam Backup Console and select Home on the bottom left menu.
  2. Select Backup Copy under Jobs in the inventory pane.
  3. In the working area, right-click the backup copy job and select Active full.
  4. Veeam Backup & Replication starts a new backup copy session and creates a full backup file in the target backup repository.
