Recipe: Restore Nutanix AHV Virtual Disks

Expected deliverables:

One or more virtual disks restored from a Veeam backup and attached to a Nutanix AHV VM.

Time to complete: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • A Nutanix AHV cluster added to the backup infrastructure.
  • A backup with at least one successfully created restore point.

Before you start:

You cannot restore disks of volume groups attached to the VM.

Assumptions:
You have a Veeam Backup and Replication server installed.

Method:

  1. Open the Veeam Backup Console and select Home on the bottom left menu.
  2. Select Backups in the inventory pane, expand the necessary backup job, right-click the VM whose disks you want to restore and select Restore virtual disks > Nutanix AHV.
  3. In the Restore Point step, select a restore point (by default Veeam uses the latest valid restore point). Click Next.
  4. In the Disk Mapping step, select the disks to restore and the target VM to which they will be attached, and configure the mapping settings. Click Next.
  5. In the Reason step, enter a reason for performing the restore and click Next.
  6. In the Summary step, review the details and click Finish.
