Recipe: Deploying a Nutanix AHV Worker

Expected deliverables:

A Nutanix AHV worker deployed in the cluster to move backup and restore data between the Nutanix AHV environment and the backup repository.

Time to complete: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • A Nutanix AHV cluster added to the backup infrastructure.
  • A container on the cluster with enough capacity for the worker VM.
  • A network with connectivity to the Veeam Backup Server and the backup repository.

Before you start:
It is recommended that workers are deployed in each cluster Workers are Linux-based VMs deployed automatically by Veeam Backup & Replication; you do not need to build them manually.

Assumptions:
You have a Veeam Backup and Replication server installed.

Method:

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console and select Backup Infrastructure.
  2. Select Backup Proxies, then click Add Proxy on the ribbon and select Nutanix AHV worker.
  3. At the Virtual Machine step,
    • Next to the Host field, click Choose to select a Nutanix AHV Cluster.
    • Specify a name for the worker.
    • Check the Storage field to see the storage container that is automatically selected for the worker system file.
    • In the Max concurrent tasks field, keep the default (4) unless you need specific parameters, and click Next.
  4. At the Networks step,
    • Click in Add to choose a network to which the worker VM will be connected. Keep the default IP assignment (DHCP) unless a static address is required
    • Configure DNS Server or leave the default Obtain automatically
    • Click Next.
  5. At the Summary step, review the details and click Finish to deploy the worker.
