Recipe: Adding a Nutanix AHV Cluster to Veeam Infrastructure
Expected deliverables:
A Nutanix AHV cluster (or Prism Central) added to the Veeam backup infrastructure and ready to protect its VMs.
Time to complete: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- A Nutanix AHV cluster or Prism Central reachable from the Veeam Backup Server.
- A Nutanix account with the Prism Admin role.
- The Nutanix AHV Plug-in is installed with Veeam Backup & Replication (already included in V13).
Before you start:
The Nutanix AHV Plug-in is integrated with Veeam Backup & Replication; there is no separate backup appliance to deploy.
Assumptions:
You have a Veeam Backup and Replication server installed.
Method:
- Open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console and select Backup Infrastructure.
- Select Managed Servers, then click Add Server on the ribbon. In the Add Server window, select Virtualization Platforms, then select Nutanix AHV.
- Specify the Nutanix AHV cluster or Prism Central DNS name or IP address and a description. Click Next.
- At the Credentials step, from the Credentials list, select an account with the Prism Admin role. If you have not set up credentials beforehand, click the Manage accounts link or click Add on the right to add the credentials.
- Provide the Username and Password for the account that you want to add.
- Click OK to complete the account creation.
- At the Apply step, wait until Veeam adds the server to the backup infrastructure. Click Next.
- At the Summary step, review the details and click Finish.
