Recipe: Assigning Users and Roles (RBAC)

Expected deliverables:

A user or group granted access to Veeam Backup & Replication with a specific role and scope, using the V13 role-based access control (RBAC) framework.

Time to complete: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

• A working Veeam Backup & Replication V13 server.
• The user or group account you want to grant access to.

Before you start:

Decide which role the user or group needs. Built-in roles include Veeam Backup Administrator, Veeam Security Administrator, Veeam Restore Operator, Veeam Backup Operator, Veeam Backup Viewer and Veeam Tape Operator.

Assumptions:

You are signed in with an account that has the Veeam Backup Administrator role.

Method:

1. In the Veeam console, from the main menu select Users & Roles.
2. On the Security tab, click Add.
3. In the Type field, select User or Group.
4. In the User or group field, enter the account name in UPN format (for example, john.doe@domain.com).
5. From the Role list, select the role to assign.
6. Click OK to save.
