Recipe: Add a new Google Cloud Service Account

Expected deliverables:

A new Google Cloud Service Account to connect to Google Compute Engine service in Google Cloud This account can be used to deploy Veeam Backup for Google Cloud

Time to complete: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • A Google Cloud project and permissions to connect with Google Comput Engine.

Before you start:

Make sure the user whose credentials you plan to use have proper privileges to interact with Google Cloud resources.

Assumptions:

You have a Veeam Backup and Replication server installed.

Method:

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console.
  2. From the main menu, select Credentials and Passwords > Cloud Credentials.
  3. Click Add > Google Cloud Platform service account.
  4. Choose if you want to Create a new service account or Use the existing service account
    • If you want to use an existing service account, then you have to download the service account key in JSON format, and provide it in the wizard.
    • If you want to create a new service account, then click in Sign in with Google to authenticate against Google Cloud. The user must have privileges to create Service Accounts. Then return to the wizard and select the project from the Project drop-down list.
  5. Click Next and then Finish to complete the process.
