Recipe: Export HPE Morpheus VM Disks
Expected deliverables:
Disks of a backed-up HPE Morpheus VM Essentials VM restored and converted to VMDK, VHD or VHDX format on a target server.
Time to complete: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- An HPE Morpheus VM Essentials backup with at least one successfully created restore point.
- A target server added to the backup infrastructure to store the exported disks.
Assumptions:
You have a Veeam Backup and Replication server installed.
Before you start:
Secure Restore option is available if you export disks of Microsoft Windows workloads
Method:
- Open the Veeam Backup Console and select Home on the bottom left menu.
- Select Backups in the inventory pane, expand the necessary backup job, right-click the VM that contains the disks you want to export and select Export content as virtual disks.
- Select a restore point and click Next.
- Select the disks to export and click Next.
- Select the output format (VMDK, VHD or VHDX) and the target server and folder. Click Next.
- In the Secure Restore step you can instruct Veeam to scan the backup for malware activity before restoration. Choose between the following options:
- either Scan restore points with Veeam Threat Hunter (if Veeam Threat Hunter is configured) or Scan restore points with your existing antivirus software
- Scan the restore point with the following YARA rule to use YARA as a scan engine Choose between Proceed with recovery or Abort Disk recovery if scan finds a virus threat, then click Next.
- In the Reason step, enter a reason and click Next.
- In the Summary step, review the details and click Finish.
