The Veeam Cookbook Series

A simple step by step no frills approach to achieving your goal

Recipe: Accessing the Veeam Web UI for the first time

Expected deliverables:

Access to the browser-based Veeam Backup & Replication Web UI.

Time to complete: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • A working Veeam Backup & Replication V13 server or Veeam Software Appliance.
  • A supported web browser with network access to the backup server over port 443.
  • Credentials of a user with access to Veeam Backup & Replication.
  • If multi-factor authentication (MFA) is enabled, a mobile authenticator app (TOTP) for MFA enrollment.

Before you start:

The Web UI is served over HTTPS on port 443. If an administrator has enabled MFA, it is enrolled the first time you log in.

Assumptions:

You know the hostname or IP address of the backup server.

Method:

  1. Open a web browser and go to https://[backup-server-address]:443.
  2. Accept the security certificate warning to continue to the sign-in page.
  3. Enter your username and password, then click Sign In.
  4. If MFA is enabled and not yet configured for your account, scan the on-screen QR code with your authenticator app (or enter the key manually), then enter the one-time password to confirm.
  5. On subsequent logins, enter your username, password, and, if MFA is enabled, the current one-time password from your authenticator app.
