- Hyper-V
- Windows Server Hyper-V 2012R2+
- A backup of a system using the Veeam Agent for Windows or Linux
Assumptions:
It’s assumed that you already have a Veeam Backup Server fully working in your environment.
Before you start
Ensure that you have sufficient virtual resources to allow for all the VMs to be started.
Method:
- Open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console and select Home on the bottom left menu.
- Click Restore and select one of the following options:
- Agent > Entire machine restore > Instant recovery > Instant recovery to VMware vSphere
- Agent > Entire machine restore > Instant recovery > Instant recovery to Microsoft Hyper-V
- Select Add -> From backup… to open the selection of available backups. Choose the desired machine from one of the backups and click Add. Click Next.
- Select Restore to the original location and click Next.
- In the Reason step, enter a reason for performing the Intant Recovery.
- Choose if the target VMs should be powered on and connected to the network, and then click Finish.
Important: After the VMs have been successfully recovered, you must finalize the process. For this, test the recovered VMs and decide whether to migrate them to production environment or stop publishing
