Recipe: Configuration Migration
Expected deliverables:
Migrate VBR Configuration from existing VBR server to a new one.
Time to complete: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- Existing configuration backup of Veeam Backup and Replication Server (“Old VBR Server”).
- New server with Veeam Backup and Replication installed (“New VBR Server”).
Before you start:
Before you start the migration process, stop all running jobs and disable all scheduled jobs on the source backup server before you create the configuration backup. Migration process will require a backup of the Old VBR server’s configuration, a copy of the file to the new server, and a reload of the configuration into the New VBR Server.
Assumptions:
You have network connectivity or external medium to copy the file to the new server.
Method:
- Stop and Disable all Jobs in the “Old VBR Server”
- Proceed with configuration backup on Old VBR Server as described in VBR Configuration Backup (One-Time) and copy the backup file to the New VBR Server
- In the “New VBR Server”, Click Main Menu button and select Configuration Backup.
- Click the Restore button,
- At the Restore Mode step, select Migrate.
- At the Configuration Backup step, select This Server, click Browse and select your backup file, then click Analyse.
- Check information, click Next if valid to continue with the process.
- Enter password to decrypt the configuration backup and click Next
- At the Target Database step, if required, select database engine and provide connection and authentication settings, confirm overwriting and click Next.
- At the Restore Options steps, review the settings and leave the default unless a change is required. Click in Restore.
- At the Restore Step, you can monitor the progress of the restore process. Click Next when the process is compleet.
- Review restore summary and re-lauch VBR interface.
