Recipe: Agent Volume restore
Expected deliverables:
Restore a volume back to an Agent backed up system using the VBR console.
Time to complete: 15-30 minutes
Ingredients:
- A backup of a system using the Veeam Agent for Windows or Linux using “Entire system” or “Volume level backup”
- A backup of a system using the Veeam Agent in either “Standalone” or “Managed By Agent” modes
Assumptions:
It’s assumed that you already have a Veeam Backup Server fully working in your environment.
Before you start Note that you cannot restore a system volume to the original or another computer running the OS. See the bare metal restore recipe.
Method:
- Open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console and select Home on the bottom left menu.
- Click Restore and select Restore > Agent > Disk restore > Volume restore
- Select the desired agent backup from a backup job and click Next.
- Select an available restore point and click Next.
- In the Disk Mapping step:
- In the Destination host field, specify the target computer where you want to restore volumes. By default it will be restored in the original location.
- Select the desired volume in the Disk mapping section and click in Customize disk mapping if required.
- If required, select how the volume must be restored, choosing the proper disk layout.
- If Secure Restore is required, enable the Scan machine for virus threats prior performing recovery option and click in Next.
- Enter a restore reason and click Next, than Finish
- View the Restore session log and click Close once the restore is completed.
