Ingredients:

  • A backup of a system using the Veeam Agent for Windows or Linux using “Entire system” or “Volume level backup”
  • A backup of a system using the Veeam Agent in either “Standalone” or “Managed By Agent” modes

Assumptions:

It’s assumed that you already have a Veeam Backup Server fully working in your environment.

Before you start Note that you cannot restore a system volume to the original or another computer running the OS. See the bare metal restore recipe.

  2. Click Restore and select Restore > Agent > Disk restore > Volume restore
  3. Select the desired agent backup from a backup job and click Next.
  4. Select an available restore point and click Next.
  5. In the Disk Mapping step:
    • In the Destination host field, specify the target computer where you want to restore volumes. By default it will be restored in the original location.
    • Select the desired volume in the Disk mapping section and click in Customize disk mapping if required.
    • If required, select how the volume must be restored, choosing the proper disk layout.
  6. If Secure Restore is required, enable the Scan machine for virus threats prior performing recovery option and click in Next.
  7. Enter a restore reason and click Next, than Finish
  8. View the Restore session log and click Close once the restore is completed.
