Recipe: Create a New Application Group

Expected deliverables:

A Veeam Backup & Replication Application Group which contains one or several VMs on which the VM to be verified is dependent.

Time to complete: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

• A valid license for Enterprise edition of Veeam Backup & Replication.

Before you start:

The applications and services on which verified VMs are dependent must all be virtualized. VM replicas must be in the Ready state You cannot add to application groups VMs from backups of VMware Cloud Director VMs, backups created with backup copy jobs and backups stored in Cloud Connect backup repositories

Assumptions:

It’s assumed that you already have a Veeam Backup Server fully working in your environment.

Method:

1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console.
2. Select Backup Infrastructure on the bottom left menu.
3. Right click SureBackup and choose Add App Group.
4. Give a name to the application group and click Next.
5. At the Machines step.
   • click Add to add VMs from backups, storage snapshots or VM replicas.
   • Select a machine from the Machines list and click in Edit
   • In the Verification Options window, select a role that the VM performs, configure the startup settings, select the tests that must be performed for the VM, and specify credentials for running the verification script. Click OK
   • Click Apply
6. Review the details and click Finish to save the application group settings and close the wizard.
