Recipe: Migrating File Shares recovered with Instant File Share Recovery to Production

Expected deliverables:

A SMB File Share fully migrated to Production after being recovered with Instant File Share Recovery.

Time to complete: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

• A SMB File Share must have been recovered successfully using Instant File Share Recovery

Assumptions:

It’s assumed that you already have a Veeam Backup Server fully working in your environment.

Method:

1. Open the Home view.
2. In the inventory pane, select the Instant Recovery node.
3. In the working area, right-click a VM and select Migrate to production. Veeam Backup & Replication will launch the Migrate to Production wizard
4. At the Destination step, select the destination to which the selected File Share must be migrated .
   • Click Original Location to migrate data to the location where it resided originally
   • Click in This server to migrate data to another location and select a file share where files must be migrated to. In addition, in the Path to folder field, specify a path to the folder on the selected file share where files must be migrated to.
5. At the Restore Options step, specify overwrite options in case the file with the same name already exists in the destination. Click Next
6. At the Switchover step, select if you want Veeam to perform the switchover automatically once the entire file share is migrated, if you want to perform the swtichover manually, or if you want to schedule this tasks in a specific date and time. Click Next
7. At the Summary step, review details and click Finish.
