Recipe: Create a SureBackup Lite Job

Expected deliverables:

A SureBackup Job in Backup verification and content scan only mode, to detect malware and similar threats.

Time to complete: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

• A valid license for Enterprise edition of Veeam Backup & Replication.

Before you start:

Assumptions:

It’s assumed that you already have a Veeam Backup Server fully working in your environment.

Method:

1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console and select Backup Infrastructure on the bottom left menu.
2. Select SureBackup and click Add SureBackup Job.
3. In the Name step give a name to the SureBackup job. Then select Backup verification and content scan only as the Backup verification mode and click Next
4. In the Linked Jobs step, flag the Test backups of the following backup jobs check box (mandatory).
   • Click Add to select the Backup or Replica jobs
   • Change the number of simultaneously processed VMs if required and click Next
5. In the Settings step, you can define several options to scan the VM for checking integrity or for malware (with antivirus software or YARA rules), and define settings for email notifications and SNMP traps. Click Next to proceed.
6. In the Schedule step, define the schedule if required, and check the Wait for backup jobs if needed. Click Apply to advance.
7. Review the summary for the job, and select Run the job when I click Finish if required. Click Finish to close the wizard.
