Recipe: Add a New Object Storage Repository Veeam Data Cloud Vault

Expected deliverables:

A Veeam Data Cloud Vault configured as Repository where Veeam keeps backup files and VM copies.

Time to complete: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • A Veeam Data Vault Subscription.
  • A Storage Vault already created.

Before you start:

Assumptions:

You have a Veeam Backup and Replication server installed.

Method:

  1. Open the Veeam Backup & Replication Console.
  2. Select Backup Infrastructure on the bottom left menu, right click Backup Repositories and choose Add Backup Repository.
  3. In the Add Backup Repository window, select Veeam Data Cloud Vault.
  4. Give a name to the repository, change the number of concurrent tasks if needed and click Next.
  5. At the Account step:
    • Click the Authorize link to authorize using your Veaam credentials. In the Veeam authorization window enter your credentials for the Veeam account.
    • Specify the storage vault that you want to use from the Vault drop-down list, .
    • You can specify how Veeam will connect with the Object Storage either via Gateway Servers or leave the default Direct option.
  6. In the Container step:
    • Click Browse and either select an existing folder or click New Folder.
    • You can also define a disk soft limit not to be exceeded.
    • Right to the Make recent backups immutable for check box, specify the immutability period (You can’t disable this option) Click Next.
  7. In the Mount Server step, select a Microsoft Windows Server to be used as a mount server from the drop-down list.
  8. At the Review step, review components which are already installed on the Mount server and which will be installed. Click Apply to start installation of missing components.
  9. At the Apply step, wait for Veeam to complete saving your settings to the configuration database and create backup infrastructure objects. Click Next.
  10. At the Summary step, review details, click Finish and the Azure Blob repository is ready to use.
